Katie Long
Katie is a qualified Children’s yoga Teacher and completed her training with Zenergy Yoga in 2019. For the last 10 years she has been a Kindergarten teacher incorporating yoga into her daily Kindergarten program. Katie has been practicing yoga for 9 years and having experienced the many benefits of yoga on a personal level, Katie has found yoga to be instrumental in helping children experience calm, focus and body awareness.
Katie also has a background in community development work and has worked for local and State government departments including the City of Yarra, City of Melbourne, and the Department of Human services. In these roles Katie developed and implemented programs and activities to meet the needs and interests of the local communities where she worked, including camps and recreational activities for children and teenagers.
Throughout Katie’s professional life she has worked with a variety of people from diverse backgrounds including living and working in South East Asia as an adventure tour leader and then as a teacher in an International School in Bangkok, Thailand. Katie feels that these opportunities have provided her with a greater insight and understanding of cultural differences and the ability to meet individual needs.
Outside of leading kid’s yoga classes, Katie enjoys spending time in nature for the restorative impact that it has for her and her family - the beach or the bush walking, camping, swimming, or kayaking, as well spending time in the garden or cooking healthy feasts for friends and family. Katie is also currently studying a Master’s Degree in Child Play therapy at Deakin University.
