Many years of hospitality work contributed to a dysfunctional body. This led me to search for a new career path.
In 2005 I completed my Clinical Pilates training, then in 2007 I studied in Clinical Yoga.
After many years of my own personal practice and also the honour of teaching others I can honestly say that I have improved my life through better movement, posture and breathing.
My approach to teaching is a blend of my own experience of Pilates and Yoga. My intention in teaching is to inspire others on their own unique journey to find a balanced body and a quite mind.
Additional studies: - Pregnancy Pilates - Children's Yoga - Kinetic Link Training
Yoga is a practice for the whole of our lives. Whether we come to it for exercise or relaxation, the effects of a sincere and consistent practice are transformative on all levels. I turned to yoga more than 20 years ago after being told I would never recover from injuries and began to heal. In 2012, I qualified as an AYI Yoga instructor.
I now want to share the many benefits of yoga, not just the physical but the awareness it brings to help lead a happier life. Classes are Hatha based but include other styles, Vinyassa, Iyengar, Ashtanga, Yin & restorative yoga. Pranayama (breath control) and meditation are also an intricate part of class. Students are encouraged to listen to their own body and know its needs and capabilities. We are all different; there is no one size fits all.
My intention is to guide not over ride and create an environment where students can build self-reliance both on and off the mat.
Since a very young age, Jessica has been exploring a variety of activities including gymnastics, martial arts, folkloric dances and was formally trained as a classical ballet dancer. Her passion about body movement techniques involved a deep curiosity about physiology, what led her to pursue a career in life sciences. Born in Mexico, Jessica moved to Australia in 2008 as a neuroscientist. She tried yoga for the first time in 2010, and found it solved old injuries, recovered her fitness, managed the stress of her modern busy life and aided in the process of adaptation to a new country. After one year of yoga self-study, she decided to share her learning by teaching.
On 2011, she completed a Yoga Teaching Training program accredited by the Yoga Teachers Association of Australia. By 2014, she started teaching a unique yoga dance style; Asanadance and later on 2016 she created BalletFIT. Jessica constantly keeps learning yoga and other movement techniques from experienced teachers, adjusting and improving her own yoga style.
